Answers about backorders, auctions, and accounts
Learn how Catches.io handles domain catching, pricing, auctions, wallet activity, privacy, and support workflows.
What is Catches.io?
Catches.io is a domain catching and auction platform that helps individuals and businesses acquire expired or soon-to-expire domain names. Our platform provides tools for monitoring, backordering, and bidding on domains that you're interested in securing for your projects.
How does domain catching work?
Domain catching involves monitoring domains that are expiring and attempting to register them as soon as they become available. At Catches.io, we automate this process by allowing you to place backorders on domains you want. When a domain expires and becomes available, our system attempts to register it for you before others can claim it.
How much does it cost to use Catches.io?
Creating an account on Catches.io is free. Backorders start at $25 per domain, auction participation is free but you'll pay if you win, and watchlist creation and monitoring is complimentary.
What's the success rate for catching domains?
Success rates vary depending on domain popularity and competition. While we employ advanced technology to maximize your chances, we cannot guarantee successful acquisition of every domain. Popular domains often have multiple backorders from various services. Our platform provides transparency about backorder counts to help you gauge competition levels.
How do I create an account?
Creating an account is simple! Click on the Sign Up button in the top-right corner of our website. You'll need to provide your email address and create a password. After verifying your email address, you can complete your profile and start using our services.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept multiple payment methods to make it convenient for you: Credit/Debit Cards, PayPal payments and recurring billing, cryptocurrency, and wire transfers for enterprise customers. All payments are processed securely through industry-standard encryption.
How do I place a backorder?
To place a backorder, search for the domain you're interested in using our search bar. If the domain is eligible for backorder, you'll see a Backorder button on its status page. Click this button, select your backorder type, complete the payment, and your backorder will be activated.
How do domain auctions work?
If multiple customers backorder the same domain and we successfully catch it, the domain goes to auction among those who placed backorders. Auctions typically last 3-5 days. You'll receive an email notification if a domain you backordered goes to auction. The highest bidder at the end of the auction wins the domain.
